Journalists who work on the continent for African owned or based organisations are invited to enter the CNN Multichoice African Journalist Awards for 2009.
The African Journalist Awards were founded in 1995 by CNN and have grown to be a highly prestigious and respected award for journalists in Africa.
The competition aims to bolster the important of journalism in Africa's development and to recognise and reward journalistic talent across all media disciplines.
Entry criteria are that the journalist must be an Africa national that works in Africa for an African owned or headquartered media organisation. Their primary audience must be African.
Judging criteria:
Your work must
- Tell the story ina balanced, comprehensive and objective manner
- Demonstrate journalistic ability and integrity
- Make the topic accessible and relevant to your audience
- Display well organised research and insight
- Have been broadcast or published between January and December 2008, with proof supplied
Categories:
Entrants are limited to two entries per category and a maximum of four entries across all categories. The categories are listed below.
All categories are open to print, radio, television and internet journalists with the exception of Television, Print and Radio General News categories and the Mohamed Amin Photographic Award.
